Sporting Achievements 2024-25

The Minster Junior School has a proud tradition of excelling at Sport. Our dedicated Sports Leader and coaches work tirelessly to nurture and celebrate our children’s sporting talents, resulting in another hugely successful year.

Sporting achievements include:

  • Achieving a GOLD School Games Mark for the third consecutive year
  • 3 vs 3 basketball champions of Croydon and London
  • iBall basketball champions of Croydon
  • Girls’ football league winners and champions of Croydon
  • Panathlon champions of Croydon
  • NFL champions of Croydon and London runners-up
  • Boys’ and girls’ relay athletic champions of Croydon
  • Girls’ athletic champions of Croydon
  • Bee netball champions of Croydon
  • Athletic champions across the SDBE Multi Academy Trust for the second consecutive year
  • Red and blue day to celebrate Crystal Palace getting through to the FA Cup Final – we made it to the ITV Evening News

As well as achieving highly in sporting competitions, we go above and beyond for all students. Extra targeted PE lessons are catered for different children throughout the year (to improve fitness, increase participation amongst girls and allow SEND and disadvantaged children the chance to represent the school). Every child in Year 5 earned a first aid qualification through their mini-medic training. We have offered children from Year 3–6 various sporting opportunities throughout the year via our hugely popular workshops and after-school clubs. We have even targeted parents with our Tuesday morning fitness sessions before school!

Our excellent Sports Hall boasts some fantastic facilities to help give our teachers the foundations to teach engaging, high quality PE lessons. The hall has 4 height-adjustable basketball hoops, a large court for basketball, football, hockey and handball, 3 smaller courts for tennis, badminton and volleyball. Our Sports Hall has hosted Croydon Sports Partnership CPD courses and has been considered as one of the best sports halls for a Croydon primary school. Our stunning MUGA is a rarity amongst Croydon schools, allowing all year use whatever the weather.
